Hello! My name is Gee Ren and I’m currently pursuing a Master’s in Political Theory at LSE. I also studied Philosophy, Politics, and Economics at Oxford as an undergraduate. With experience tutoring for the TSA admissions test, guiding personal statement development across various subjects, and conducting mock tutorials, I’m keen on supporting ambitious students in their university applications. At Oxford, I edited several student publications, sharpening my eye for effective, clear writing — a skill I bring to each tutoring session. I also provide guidance for Oxbridge interview preparation and specialised support for university-level philosophy and politics students. My goal is to help students strengthen their academic skills but build confidence and critical thinking abilities. I look forward to working with you and helping you reach your goals!
My teaching style
My teaching style is tailored towards building confidence and encouraging students to take their own initiative in their learning. I wish to not only help students make a competitive application, but to equip them with skills and attitudes conducive to success at top universities. Lessons are focused on developing writing and research skills and fostering critical thinking.
My past experience
I have experience editing personal statements and helping students brainstorm ideas for their personal statements. I have also helped students prepare for the TSA, in both the multiple choice (critical thinking and problem solving questions) and essay sections. Additionally, I conducted Oxford-style mock tutorials for prospective applicants to provide them insight into the teaching style at Oxford. I am also comfortable supporting students with wider questions about the Oxford admissions process.
My Proudest Achievements
I recently completed my dissertation in Political Theory as a Master’s student at LSE, which is my first experience conducting independent research!
