About Me
Hi there! I’m Erin, a final-year vet student at the University of Nottingham. Ever since I was in primary school I had always dreamed of one day becoming a vet, and now that I’m here fulfilling my goals, I’m keen to support other applicants through their journey to vet school! I have lots of experience mentoring students through the application process (most of whom have gone on to be successful in securing vet school offers), from supporting students with personal statement writing, interview preparation, and paneling mock interviews myself.
I’m incredibly passionate about supporting students through their application to vet school since I’m from a widening participation background, and during my own application process had to figure everything out for myself since I didn’t know anybody that had been to vet school! I love offering support and guidance to those who need it and being the ideal vet student mentor that I wish I had during my own time applying.
My favourite animal is the sloth, and in my free time, I enjoy long-distance running, playing squash and reading 🙂
My teaching style
I teach in a way that allows students to realise their own abilities and potential. Rather than spoon-feeding students the ‘ideal’ interview response, I help to draw out their experiences and support them in molding these into high-quality, unique, personal and reflective responses that will enable them to stand out during vet school interview.
When it comes to GCSE and A-Level tutoring, my teaching style is very visual. I enjoy taking key concepts and creating memorable diagrams that students can use to solidify their understanding in preparation for both short and long answer exam questions.
My past experience
I have lots of previous experience with teaching and tutoring. I have previously tutored GCSE science, and have supported KS3 students with learning difficulties in their science classes. I also have experience in guiding students through personal statement writing, interview preparation and have paneled both mock MMI and traditional style veterinary medicine interviews myself.
My Proudest Achievements
I created and cohost a free-to-access Podcast for aspiring vets, supporting over 30,000 international listeners through their application journey!
