Daniyal
About Me
Hi – I’m Daniyal, a fourth-year Cambridge medic, with a First-Class Honours BA in Physiology, Development and Neuroscience.
I remember how much work and how difficult applying to medical school was and I’d love to make that easier for you. I applied to and received four out of four offers to study medicine from Cambridge, UCL, Newcastle and Liverpool. I did both the UCAT and BMAT achieving a score of 790 (3160 overall – top 1%) and Band 1 in the UCAT and a combined S1+2 score of 10.9 and a S3 score of 3.5A in the BMAT. I received all 9s at GCSE and A star A star A star A in my A-levels, as well as doing an EPQ.
In my spare time, I can be found on the rugby pitch or in the gym and I am on the committees of a number of societies and charities including May Week Alternative, PakSoc and MedSoc.
My teaching style
I have tutored extensively over the past 4 years ranging from GCSE subjects to running Oxbridge interviews. I have tutored both GCSE and A-level, medical applications, have reviewed many personal statements, taught BMAT and UCAT, done access mock interviews and tutored for Oxbridge Formula both introducing medicine at Cambridge, running mock interview days for biomedicine and tutoring students who wished to apply for STEM at top universities. Even before this, I have mentored younger students during my time at school and so I have a strong background in teaching (which has continued at medical school where I have taught 1st year medical students).
– make sure we’re comfortable with the exam basics and logistics;
– go through practice questions, common pitfalls and come up with techniques to approach questions;
– advice on approaching preparation (not useful just to hammer as many questions as possible);
– review and recommend changes to personal statements;
– interview preparation tailored to the medical schools you’re applying to
My Proudest Achievements
– maintaining a good work-life balance, where I do well in my work and degree but make time for friends and family and my extra-curricular activities whether that be rugby, gym, volunteering or my society committments
