10About Me
Hey there! I’m Edwin, a second year Oxford physics student and finalist in several science olympiads, including top gold medals in the BPhO and BAAO competitions, and got an A* at A level in physics, maths and further maths. I’ve previously taught GCSE students and will work to my fullest extent with you to improve your grade to a minimum A. I ran a weekly lecture at my Sixth Form college talking about undergraduate material and recent research to younger students, with an astounding participation and commitment which led me to develop that material further for the use and benefit of other students aspiring to gain a place at top competitive universities. Some of this material will soon turn into notes for the Znotes platform. I mainly focus on Oxbridge admissions and tutor maths, further maths and physics for A level, but I am happy to take on promising and confident GCSE students as well.
My teaching style
While no part of a student’s learning should be dwelt on too briefly, I tend to be very succinct and only focus on what the student needs to master in order to progress to the next level. For people new to A levels and calculus, I will aim to introduce them to different resources and methods they can use to place themselves ahead of their cohort and gain a solid foundation for any STEM-related degree. For more advanced students, I will work in detail on topics which need extra attention, be it a question repeatedly missed on past papers or some specific area they are confident in which will help them shine in exams and competitive applications.
My past experience
I previously taught maths at all levels up to GCSE at Mathnasium, and tutored at GCSE level for Driven Tutors and for A-level / Oxbridge admissions on Zero Gravity and privately.
My Proudest Achievements
I set up a club in year 13 teaching year 12 students quantum mechanics and ideas in quantum computing. Had many more participants than I expected, considering most societies would not go beyond informative talks.
