19About Me
My name is Israa, and I graduated from the top university in Sudan. I was one of the top students in my batch, achieving Distinctions in 28 subjects (including microbiology, neuroscience, pathology, physiology, anatomy, medicine, paediatrics and immunology) by the time I graduated.
I am currently working on my my teaching qualification, a PGCert in medical education.
I like to spend a good amount of time preparing for my sessions so I can teach all sorts of medical subjects and particularly gravitate to trickier subjects in which I have notable experience teaching:
-Neuroscience, Immunology, Pathology, Microbiology and infectious diseases, Pharmacology and OSCEs
I recently passed both PLABs on my first attempt and can provide ample support with OSCEs, including the PLABs and UKMLA as well.
My teaching style
I keep it interactive, fun, relevant, useful and designed for ADULT learners.
Learning as an adult requires a fundamentally different approach to teaching a child; I incorporate a blend of my strong understanding of educational sciences and evidence-based study habits with my academic knowledge.
I like to add loads of examples, images and questions to keep my students engaged and to help clarify things as soon as possible
My past experience
I have taught at my university, conducting sessions and exam revisions. As well as at other universities through the top private tutoring company in Sudan, called KMC Medical Tutoring.
My Proudest Achievements
My proudest achievement was starting the medical education office at my student union. This idea grew as an expansion to peer teaching initiatives I had started within my batch. Even after graduating, this office continues to thrive and has organised sessions for different batches and subjects.
