Hi there! My name is Mahir Shah and I’m a 3rd year medical student from Imperial College London. My past few years at medical school have been some of the best years of my life, and I’d love to help you get here too. Having scored extremely well on the UCAT and BMAT and getting offers from all of my interviews, I am very familiar with what is needed to obtain a place at some of the UK’s most prestigious universities. Through my tutoring experience not only tutoring GCSE and A-Level subjects, but also being tutored when I was at your stage, I know all too well how to make your tutoring experience a pleasant one and ensure that each student of mine gets everything they want out of their lessons. I have a friendly persona and I’d like to think I go above and beyond to ensure my students progress and achieve their goals.

My teaching style
My teaching style differs from student to student and mostly depends on the individual needs of the student. I take time to evaluate where each student is, and after this we work together to decide what teaching style would best suit them. Once students reach a certain level, it really is all about practice so I like to use mocks, practice questions and a variety of different resources to see how the student copes and to help them reach the next level in their learning.
My past experience
I have extensive past experience with tutoring kids during their GCSE’s and A-Levels, and these students have achieved top grades in both of these. I have also been part of a panel of interviewers for different simulated MMI circuits, and have had to give detailed, tailored feedback to each student covering communication – both verbal and non-verbal, professionalism etc.
My Proudest Achievements
One of my proudest achievements was receiving my A-Level results. As my year was hugely affected by COVID-19, this led to a year filled with uncertainty and stress but seeing that my A-Level results represented the hard work I had put in for the past couple years filled me with happiness. In addition to this, receiving my offer from Imperial was also one of my proudest achievements.
