About Me

Hi! My name is Edie and I am looking forward to meeting you. I, on a personal level, understand the demands and pressures of school, and so I hope to make each tutee’s scholastic life easier by providing study support.
I am currently an undergraduate studying Psychology at Durham University, pursuing a career as an educational psychologist. Hence, I am always ready and happy to help others, especially with academics. I have prior experience helping my brother with his studies in IB and GCSE, alongside volunteering to tutor younger students (age 12-15) in Maths and Biology during my high school years. I have also lived in Asia, Europe and the UK, and hence have a broader understanding of the different cultural pressures associated with education.
In 2024, I graduated from the IB diploma programme in the top 10% of my cohort, so I am no stranger to a good work ethic and using effective study strategies to get top marks. I am also familiar with the high-pressure environment of examinations, and so am able to give advice on how to maintain a work-life balance based on experience if requested. My favourite subjects were Psychology, Biology and Literature, but I mostly miss the supportive educational environment — fostered by my peers and teachers — that enabled me to thrive in my adolescent years. I now strive to create the same warm and informative environment with my future tutees, where questions are not just welcomed but encouraged.

My teaching style

For my lessons, I will personalise each session to the individual student. In the first introductory session, I will get a better understanding of who you are, where you are at and what you hope to achieve with each lesson. We will then approach each lesson with a specific target in mind, subject to change depending on emerging assignments or homework that need immediate assistance.

My past experience

I have previously tutored as part of my CAS project in IB (i.e., activities and services) to the younger grades (grade 7 to 9). I tutored the subjects of Maths and English Literature, without pay (i.e., volunteering as a service).

My Proudest Achievements

My proudest achievements are getting into Durham University, graduating from the IB diploma programme in the top 10% of my cohort (i.e., 43 out of 45 points), and getting the MVP (most valuable player) award for my Netball club in 2021.
