About Me
Hi! I’m in my first year of my 6-year Medicine Undergraduate degree at the University of Cambridge. I received offers from Cambridge, Imperial, King’s and Bristol, for Medicine, and an offer from Newcastle for Biomedical Sciences. I, surprisingly, enjoyed my experience with Medicine interviews, having done both panel and MMI interviews, both in-person and online. I have amassed a lot of experience and resources to do with interviews, as well as the UCAT entrance exam; I achieved a score of 3130, with full marks (900) in the Quantitative Reasoning (Maths) section, and a Band 1 in the SJT. I also have experience teaching maths to years 8 and below, and tutoring for the eleven plus, having gone through it myself and receiving offers from every school, some of which include St. Paul’s Girls’ School, which I attended from Years 7 through to 13, Henrietta Barnett School, North London Collegiate School, City of London School for Girls, Haberdashers’ Girls’ School, and the Sutton Grammar Schools.
About me – I adore animals, having grown up around many cats (I currently have seven!). I’m passionate about art and exercise, which I hope to continue through university. I play the violin and practise Carnatic Vocal, both of which I have been doing for over 10 years now.
My teaching style
Being someone who loves organisation, but is also inherently chaotic, I always make sure to have a structured, but simultaneously flexible, lesson plan tailored to the individual needs of each student; I will always focus on whatever the student wants to tackle, even if they come up with ideas in the actual lesson. I pride myself on my knowledge and resources, which I am always happy to provide for students. I’m patient and will explain concepts in an easy-to-understand manner. While some may find studying boring, I always try my best to make my lessons fun and engaging, and try to form strong bonds with my students.
My past experience
I also have experience teaching maths to years 8 and below, and tutoring for the eleven plus, having gone through it myself and receiving offers from every school, some of which include St. Paul’s Girls’ School, which I attended from Years 7 through to 13, Henrietta Barnett School, North London Collegiate School, City of London School for Girls, Haberdashers’ Girls’ School, and the Sutton Grammar Schools.
My Proudest Achievements
In 2021, my team and I entered the Royal College of Science Union’s Science Challenge, where the theme was “COVID-19 and Scientific Progress”, through Imperial College London. We won the group section with our video – it featured hand-drawn or hand-painted illustrations and an original poem. When I was younger, I also won first prize in the Chithambara Maths Challenges for two years in a row, which I will never forget.
