About Me

Hi! I’m Soumya, a second-year medical student at Norwich Medical School. GCSEs, A levels, UCAS, UCAT, and Interviews can be really stressful for students especially those aiming for top grades and universities, having successfully been though the process I am in great position to help students.

I have achieved all grade 8/9s (A*s) at GCSE and then 5 A* at A level (Biology, Chemistry, Maths, Physics and EPQ) I am in a great position to offer effective exam advice that will help you achieve top grades whilst also solidifying your knowledge. I enjoy challenging myself academically and have taken part in various competitions and achieved awards including Silver in Biology olympiad, Bronze in the Chemistry Olympiad, Bronze in the Cambridge chemistry challenge and Bronze in the UKMT senior challenge. I’ve always been very passionate about Science and Math and in my lessons, I hope to help you understand the different processes or techniques you will encounter whilst also helping you become familiar with Exam questions as well- vital in helping you achieve top grades. I have over 200 hours of experience with medic mind where I helped my students top grades in a range of subjects including A level Biology, Chemistry, Maths and Physics

Interviews can be really daunting but I believe that you can do extremely well with enough practice, confidence and a few tips which is what helped me achieve my offer for medicine at UEA and these are some of the areas I will focus on in my sessions. My sessions will be tailored to you and this will help you focus on and develop your weaknesses- this has proven effective as a lot of my students have achieved offers (even multiple offers) from their universities. You will have plenty of opportunities to ask questions and practise your interview techniques and skills which will increase your confidence for your interviews.

I am quite passionate about helping others- I guided students in my school through my role as a prefect, volunteered at the children’s trust charity shop for 6 months and I am current my medical school’s rep. In my free time, I usually catch up with family, and friends or bake/cook. I believe it is really important to have a balance in life to avoid burnout.

As you can see from my numerous reviews I am very approachable and friendly. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.

My teaching style

My teaching style is very much student centred. I will focus on topics or areas my students feel they need more help in. I strongly believe in practising and mock tests and I will always aim to incorporate an element of this in my lessons as this will help students become more familiar with the testing format and build their confidence.
I have a proven track record of helping students achieving top grades and in helping them secure offers for medicine- proving the effectiveness of my teaching.

My past experience

I have provided over 200 hours of tutoring with medic mind. I tutored over 15 students (including international applicants) for their medical school interview- with students receiving multiple offers, I have been an examiner in the mock MMI circuits, provided a live day course for A level chemistry and I also have experience tutoring one-to-one for A level Chemistry, A level Biology, A level Maths, A Level physics, GCSE science, GCSE maths and KS3 Science. My students greatly value my feedback and I always ensure that no questions are left unanswered. Furthermore, on Scoodle, I have helped over 2200 students by answering questions.

My Proudest Achievements

My proudest achievement so far is my medical school offer as an international student. I decided in year 10 that I wanted to be a doctor as I truly wanted to make a difference to others in a field I am passionate about. Since then, I have consistently worked very hard to ensure that I achieved top grades, took part in extracurricular activities, volunteered, prepared for UCAT, interviews and more. So an offer of medicine for me is a reflection of my hard work over 3-4 years which is something I’m very proud of.
