About Me
Hello! I’m Ismaeel Ahmad Ayoob Syed, a third-year medical student at King’s College London with a deep passion for teaching and mentoring aspiring medical students. With a score of 3000 on the UCAT and a history of academic excellence, including a 43/45 in the IB and 8A* in IGCSEs, I bring both personal achievement and practical experience to my tutoring sessions.
During my time in school, I founded a club specifically designed to guide students through the medical school application process. This involved everything from UCAT preparation to interview practice, personal statement reviews, and in-depth research on different medical schools and their unique teaching styles. I conducted 1:1 sessions with students to analyze their strengths and weaknesses, creating individualized learning plans that helped them maximize their potential. My hands-on approach has been instrumental in helping many students gain a clearer understanding of the rigorous process of applying to medical school.
In addition to my work with prospective medical students, I also served as the president of an organization at my school that provided academic support to primary school students from lower socio-economic backgrounds. I was responsible for monitoring and managing 40 students while collaborating with a team to develop a curriculum that met their specific academic needs in mathematics and English. This experience not only strengthened my leadership and organizational skills but also deepened my understanding of the educational challenges faced by students from diverse backgrounds.
Beyond my academic and teaching experiences, I am deeply committed to the idea of lifelong learning and personal growth. Whether through my academic pursuits, mentoring roles, or personal interests, I strive to inspire and motivate students to reach their full potential. I am excited about the opportunity to support your child on their journey to success in school, helping them navigate the challenges of the curriculum and beyond with confidence and skill.
My teaching style
My teaching style is student-centered, focusing on understanding each student’s unique strengths and learning preferences. I begin by assessing their needs and then create a personalized learning plan to align with their style. This tailored approach ensures that the material is both accessible and engaging, leading to better understanding and retention.
I emphasize critical thinking and problem-solving, particularly in preparing for exams like the UCAT. Rather than relying on memorization, I encourage deeper exploration of concepts, using case studies and interactive exercises to develop the analytical skills essential for medical success.
Feedback plays a vital role in my teaching. I provide constructive, ongoing feedback to help students track their progress and identify areas for improvement. This open communication allows me to adjust my methods, ensuring that students are always moving toward their goals.
Ultimately, I strive to inspire a love for lifelong learning. Beyond academic achievement, I aim to foster confidence, curiosity, and a passion for knowledge, empowering students to continue growing throughout their lives.
My Proudest Achievements
Some of my proudest achievements include founding a club at school that guided students through the UK medical application process, achieving a UCAT score of 3000, and holding the top rank in my graduating class with an IB score of 43/45. I also managed a team of 40 students as president of an organization supporting primary school students from lower socio-economic backgrounds. At 16, I authored and published my first poetry book, showcasing my creative side. Additionally, I earned a distinction for my scholarly project at King’s College London and served as Editor-in-Chief of my school newspaper.
