About Me
Hello! My name is Christie, and I’m excited to support students on their learning journey. I completed my International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma in Hong Kong, where I achieved a score of 42/45. I developed a strong foundation in science, maths, and languages. After graduating, I received university offers from several top institutions, and I was also invited to interviews for both Glasgow, Nottingham, and Edinburgh veterinary programmes.
I went on to study at the University of Edinburgh R(D)SVS , where I completed my veterinary degree. I have also sat and passed — the NAVLE licensing exam, which has further strengthened my academic and professional background.
With this experience, I am very happy to tutor GCSE Maths, Biology, and beginner-level Chinese (Cantonese or Mandarin). I am also able to offer veterinary school interview preparation, guidance on personal statements, and insight into the application process for students interested in pursuing veterinary medicine.
Having grown up and studied in multilingual environments, I am fluent in Cantonese, Mandarin, and English, which allows me to support students from a variety of backgrounds.
My teaching style
My lessons are designed to be interactive, engaging, and tailored to each student’s needs. I rely heavily on illustrations, demonstrations to explain concepts clearly—especially in science subjects, where visual understanding can make a big difference.
For interview prepping, my sessions are generally structured around practicing the interview under timed conditions. I would also guide students in developing a strategy for these interviews.
Rather than delivering a one-way lecture, I focus on two-way communication. I ask questions, encourage students to think aloud, and work together with them to identify areas they find challenging. Once we understand what they are struggling with, I adapt the lesson to guide them through these topics step by step.
Each session is personalised and may look different depending on the student’s feedback, progress, and goals. My aim is to build confidence, strengthen understanding, and help students develop effective revision strategies so they can succeed independently.
My Proudest Achievements
One of my best achievements is completing the IB Diploma in Hong Kong, a programme known for its demanding workload and emphasis on critical thinking from a young age. This is also when I started forming strategies for smart studying, which this foundation significantly helped during my veterinary studies in university.
I am especially proud to have graduated vet school from University of Edinburgh — often referred to as R(D)SVS, one of the leading veterinary institutions in the world. Following my degree, I sat the NAVLE exam and passed, allowing me to further expand my professional qualifications.
Beyond academics, I’m proud of how I have consistently used the same skill set— preparation, resilience, and strong communication—to progress in my career. These skills helped me confidently handle job interviews after graduation, ultimately securing a position where I am able to practice as a veterinarian to this day.
