Meera
About Me
Hi, I’m Meera , a second-year medical student at the University of Manchester, where I’ve not only excelled academically but also gained extensive experience supporting fellow students. With a 2940 score on the UCAT, I was successful in securing offers from all four of my medical school applications, and I’ve since helped coach others to do the same—whether it’s interview preparation, personal statement guidance, or overall strategy. I achieved top grades with three A’s in Biology, Chemistry, and Maths at A-level, and I’ve tutored students from 11+ to A-level in a variety of subjects. Alongside my focus on science and medicine, I have a deep passion for humanities, having studied History and Geography, and I hold a Grade 8 in LAMDA, which has sharpened my public speaking, drama, and English skills. My experience extends beyond the classroom—I’ve volunteered on a pediatric ward, where I gained invaluable experience working with children. I’m passionate about helping students of all ages unlock their potential, whether in science, humanities, or communication skills, and I’m eager to support you in achieving your academic goals.
My teaching style
As a tutor, I’m committed to creating a supportive and engaging learning environment that caters to each student’s individual needs. My approach is built on patience, clear communication, and a deep understanding of how to break down complex concepts in a way that makes them accessible. Having tutored students across a range of ages and subjects, from 11+ to A-levels, I understand that every student learns differently. I take the time to identify their strengths and areas for improvement, tailoring my lessons to suit their unique learning styles.
I bring a combination of academic excellence and real-world experience, with a particular passion for both science and humanities. My success in securing medical school offers, scoring 2940 on the UCAT, and helping other students navigate their medical school applications has given me insight into the competitive nature of academia and the strategies that work best for excelling in exams and interviews. I believe in building strong foundations by ensuring that students fully understand key concepts before we build on them. This approach enables them to tackle more advanced material with confidence.
In addition to mastering the content, I focus on helping students develop effective exam techniques. Using mark schemes, practicing past papers, and learning how to approach different types of questions are all essential for performing well in exams. I believe in fostering a growth mindset, where students feel comfortable making mistakes, knowing that it’s all part of the learning process. Whether you’re looking to improve your grades, prepare for exams, or build confidence in a particular subject, I am dedicated to helping you achieve your academic goals and develop a lasting love for learning.
My past experience
Yes, I have a wealth of tutoring experience across a variety of age groups and subjects. I’ve tutored students preparing for 11+, 13+, GCSE, and A-level exams, providing tailored support in subjects such as Biology, Chemistry, Maths, History, Geography, and English. Throughout my tutoring journey, I’ve worked with students from diverse academic backgrounds and abilities, including those with learning disabilities. This experience has allowed me to adapt my teaching methods to meet each student’s unique needs, ensuring that all students feel supported and capable of succeeding. As a current medical student, I also bring real-world insights into science and exam strategy, which enriches the learning experience. Additionally, I’ve helped aspiring medical students prepare for the UCAT, medical school interviews, and personal statements. I believe that building a strong foundation in key concepts, developing effective exam techniques, and boosting students’ confidence are key to their success. Whether it’s in science, English, or other subjects, I tailor my approach to help students thrive, regardless of their starting point.
My Proudest Achievements
One of my proudest achievements is building a life for myself in Manchester, both academically and personally. Moving to a new city to pursue a medical degree was a huge step, but it’s allowed me to grow in ways I never expected. The vibrant city and its welcoming community have played a huge role in helping me adapt. From forming meaningful friendships and professional connections to becoming involved in local volunteering and campus activities, I’ve found a sense of belonging here. Navigating the demands of medical school while building these personal relationships has taught me resilience and time management. I’m proud of how I’ve balanced these aspects of my life, and it’s deepened my passion for both the city and my career in medicine. The experiences I’ve had here have not only shaped me as a student but also as a person, and I look forward to continuing to grow within this supportive community.
