About Me
Hi everyone! My name’s Arupa and I’m a first year medical student at Brighton and Sussex Medical School. My road to medicine was not easy and I had lots of support to help me through the process so I would love to be that person for someone. I’m an extravert-introvert who loves to socialise but also have my alone time and I’m extremely passionate about teaching! I’ve tutored science, maths and medicine applications for around a year but I’ve also been helping out with teaching programs in my secondary and sixth forms too. Outside of academics, I love going out, swimming, bouldering and meeting new people! I’m also a procrastinator who still can get things done when needed so I can completely relate to those who procrastinate and I can help get you through those tough revision periods! I hope you consider me as your tutor/mentor!
My teaching style
My teaching style is supportive, adaptive, and student-centred. I focus on breaking down complex topics into manageable parts, using clear explanations, active recall, and spaced repetition to reinforce understanding. I also tailor my approach to each student’s learning style, encouraging questions and discussion to build confidence and deepen comprehension.
My past experience
I’ve tutored with MyPocketSkill for around a year now, teaching biology, chemistry, physics and computer science among other subjects but I’ve helped tutor Religious Studies to Year 10 kids in my secondary school sitting their GCSEs. I’ve also helped out in youth centres and even in an elderly group organisation, teaching them how to use computers?
My Proudest Achievements
I’ve completed my Lifeguard Training and I am also BLS (Basic Life Support) Certified. I’ve been Vice Captain in my sixth form in Year 13 helping to organise fundraisers as well as different events in school. I also have a Grade 6 in ABRSM Piano and a bronze Duke of Edinburgh.
