About Me

I’m a first year undergraduate currently studying Mathematics at the University of Cambridge.
I chose to study Mathematics because it’s difficult! Yes, I know how weird that sounds, but I realised learning a difficult subject pushes you and when I was pushed I became more resilient and more patient because it requires a lot of effort to solve tough problems!

I mentored 3 students the last application season and all of them are now going to their top choice university, including one to Cambridge to study Mathematics. I supported them the whole way, from Personal Statement to Interview and post-interview exams (STEP and A-Level).

I now specialise in tutoring for entrance exams, interviews and everything else to do with applying to university, so that students have the best possible chance of achieving their offer.

My teaching style

For Interviews: I prefer to do 1 hour sessions in which we do 2 mock interviews, that are 25 mins each and I give the student feedback each time. I suggest to students what resources they should use to prepare with in their own time, so that they can make the most out of the mock interview.

For Entrance Exams: In the first few lessons I make sure the student knows the specification, then create a plan for what papers the student should do between lessons, as well as ask them to mark it themselves. I prefer to spread past papers out rather than cramming them in a short time as it takes time for a student to get used to that format. In every lesson, we discuss the past paper(s) that the student has done and go over any mistakes that they have made, and how they can improve. I ask students to keep a record of their progress so that they can feel proud of themselves when they see their progress over time.

For A-Levels: I try to split the session into 2 parts, the first of which is allocated to discussing questions from last session’s topic. And then we go through the theory and examples of a new topic. As we get closer to exams, I set students past papers to do in their own time and then we discuss their solutions in the session.
