About Me
Hello! I’m a second-year medical student with a previous Ivy League education in Neuroscience, experience with the IB, MCAT, and IMAT exams, and experience with a broad range of curricula and tutoring contexts. I’m originally from Riga, Latvia, lived in the US for 6 years, and now, based in Rome, Italy, I’m pursuing medical studies.
I have a rich range of experience across subjects with IB coursework experience in Math HL (7), Russian Language B (7), English Language & Literature A HL (7), also biology, chemistry, and psychology from my extensive Ivy League university coursework, and experience with standardized exams: MCAT (519) and IMAT (70.3/90, top 5% for all 2025 test-takers).
I’m passionate about applied science and translations between science and practice, be it engineering or clinical, and make sure to supplement my tutoring as such. My tutoring is engaging, personalized, and is there to motivate learning and passion about the subjects the same way I have passion for the subjects I teach!
I speak fluently and can teach in English, Russian, and Latvian.
My teaching style
Personalized, practice and implementation-focused: practice exercises supplemented gap-filling lessons, mock exams, but also lessons focused on applications-focused thinking (e.g., studying molecular biology using experimental scenarios to develop intuition around mechanisms)
My past experience
I have worked for 3 years as a tutor for middle- and high-school students in mathematics and Russian language.
My Proudest Achievements
Completing my degree in neuroscience, despite starting out as a social sciences student, with a Latin honors, getting into one of the best medical schools in Italy, publishing my own research in a high-impact medical journal (in JAMA Network Open in December 2025!!)
