13About Me
Hello! I am Eva 🙂 I’m a native English speaker born to Catalan and French parents- so I speak those too! I have been tutoring since 2019 to students studying English Language and Literature as well as foreign languages and music.
I have worked both in schools and as a freelance one-on-one teacher so I have plenty of experience with a wide range of students. I am also trained in special needs and am very attuned to the well being of my students, I believe that life long learning starts with a safe and positive space. I always focus on empowering my students and teaching them study skills so they can get as much out of the lessons as they do in them.
I have a real passion for self expression and I believe that learning a language helps you find your own voice. When I teach Literature I always try help my students understand how much art and history is in every text and the importance of the written word.
My teaching style
My teaching style focuses around the foundations of the subjects I teach. Often in classrooms surface knowledge is taught which means the understanding of core theory is missed. I often find that teaching this allows students to excel much faster and with a more confident grasp of the subject. I also help my students find all the exam materials they need.
For adult learners of foreign languages we look at core grammatical concepts and then pair them with lots of conversation on interesting topics. It makes for a really beautiful class where a real human connection is made- exactly what a foreign language is for!
My Proudest Achievements
My proudest achievements are working with children who face severe adversity. I have a student who didn’t attend school because of her severe anxiety and through our work together she was able to get full marks on her English Literature GCSE.
