About Me
Hello, I’m M Ahsan Al Mahir. I’m from Bangladesh. I’m currently studying Mathematics and Computer Science in St John’s College, University of Oxford. I have participated in the Mathematical Olympiads since I was in grade 6. I enjoyed participating in these competitions because I love solving mathematical problems. I enjoy the suspense and beauty that can be found in every intriguing maths problem. I have previously mentored the Bangladesh IMO team, and whenever I’m tutoring someone, I try to focus more on problem solving than teaching new theorems everyday. I believe learning to solve more problems helps a student to understand the essence of mathematics, and that’s what studying mathematics in university is all about. Hopefully my beliefs will be useful to students who want to learn from me.
My teaching style
I like to teach students who enjoy the subject as much as I do. In a typical session, I love to start with any problems the student might have encountered before, and try to resolve them before moving on to new topics. I try to focus on problem solving, and I encourage my students to think critically and strategically.
My past experience
Yes, I have volunteered as a mentor in Bangladesh Mathematical Olympiad, where I taught the best high school maths students in our country.
My Proudest Achievements
