Aside from my academic interests, I am passionate about music (especially Jazz, Gospel and Disco) and film, playing the piano, saxophone. I am also avidly interested in politics and current affairs (for better or worse).
My teaching style
I have a patient but rigorous teaching style, spending as much time as may be necessary for the student may need to feel comfortable with understanding content and mastering technique and application. We generally being a class – in which we focus on a particular topic or skill – by introducing, refreshing or rivising the relevant content, going through context, key concepts and definitions, core analysis and key propositions, theorems or formulas, which we organise and mind-map, to be followed by practice at application and technique, where we focus on applying this freshly organised knowledge to the solution of relevant questions, covering the full range of such possible questions, moving from less to more difficult questions, ensuring all content areas and skill bases are convered. I then provide feedback and a grade is applicable, and leave work with the student for their own study and application.
My past experience
Yes. I have over 8 years experience as a part- and full-time private teacher and tutor. I have also worked as an educational consultant, a textbook writer and translator, as well as a market researcher and in charity.
