About Me

Hi, I’m Aditya, a Mechanical Engineering studying MSc in the University of Sheffield. Before my degree I spent over two years as an Assistant Manager in operations and maintenance at a 1,200 MW thermal power plant, where I led reliability and efficiency projects on rotating equipment and heat‑exchange systems. That experience taught me how large‑scale engineering really works, from root‑cause analysis on the shop floor to working with procurement, safety and OEM teams.
At Sheffield I am currently working on projects related to advanced mechanics, CFD and FEA, and have authored a published research on NACA 0015 airfoil optimisation using CFD, validated with a 3D‑printed model. I also enjoy hands‑on design and prototyping. During a lab manager internship I used Fusion 360 and 3D printing to develop projects such as a hand prosthesis, FPV racing drone and personalised CNC machine.
As a tutor I’m keen to give realistic, honest advice about studying Mechanical Engineering, balancing coursework with part‑time work, and moving to the UK as an international student. If you’re curious about the course content, workload, projects or career options after graduation, I’d be happy to share my experience.

My teaching style

I like to go at a pace that matches the student, first understanding where they are confident and where they feel stuck. I break topics down into simple steps, use examples that relate to real life or engineering practice, and keep checking that the student can explain ideas back in their own words. I am organised with deadlines but flexible with how we reach them, and I set short, focused practice questions rather than lots of repetitive homework. I also like to quickly revisit older topics so students don’t forget how to approach problems they once found difficult.

My past experience

I have trained new recruits in CAD, rapid prototyping and CNC basics during my time as a lab‑manager intern, guiding them from first design to finished part. At Adani Power I mentored junior technicians on maintenance routines and root‑cause analysis. Outside engineering and studies, I have taught several friends to swim from scratch and helped colleagues improve their spoken and written English in an informal setting. These experiences have made me patient, clear and good at adapting explanations to different learning styles.
