Malak
About Me
Hi! I’m Malak, a 2nd year medical student with a passion for helping others navigate the same journey that brought me here. I’ve successfully supported applicants with their personal statements and interviews. As the founder and former President of my school’s Medical & Dental Society, I led UCAT workshops, mock interviews, and statement clinics that helped so many students gain offers. I know firsthand how challenging the application process can feel, especially when you’re trying to balance your schoolwork, perfect your personal statement, and prepare for intense interviews. That’s why I aim to make it all feel more manageable and a lot less overwhelming.
My own experience navigating the UCAS process has given me unique insight into what selectors look for and how to stand out in a crowded field. I received offers from Leeds, Bristol, Keele, and Brighton & Sussex. Before that, I earned 11 GCSEs, took on an A-Level at the same time, completing 4 A-Levels overall. I’ve taken part and won awards in the Cambridge Chemistry Challenge and the British Biology Olympiad while training to aid the visually impaired at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital. I’ve since gone on to tutor students studying GCSE science and maths and those applying for Medicine, Dentistry, Optometry and Veterinary Medicine – particularly with personal statements and interviews.
Alongside my studies, I’ve been involved in research projects exploring bacteriophages and mosquito disease prevention, and I’m always excited to bring that scientific curiosity into my sessions. Outside of medicine, I’m a big fan of hiking, reading, and music.
I aim to make every session engaging, supportive, and efficient. Whether you’re crafting your personal statement, preparing for interview questions, or reviewing exam content, I’ll work with you to make sure you feel confident, prepared, and ready to succeed.
My teaching style
My teaching style is student-led, adaptable, and focused on building long-term confidence and understanding. I tailor sessions around your specific goals. I use active recall, interactive discussions, and exam-style practice to reinforce learning and address areas of weakness. For interviews and personal statements, I provide detailed guidance and realistic mock scenarios so you can refine your communication skills and approach. I always strive to make sessions engaging, practical, and supportive, so you leave feeling motivated and in control of your progress.
My past experience
I have experience tutoring personal statements and interview prep for Medicine, Dentistry, Optometry, and Veterinary applications. I’ve worked one-to-one with students to refine their ideas, strengthen structure and clarity, and rehearse answers for panel and MMI-style interviews. I also led initiatives as President of my school’s Medical & Dental Society, giving me valuable experience in mentorship and peer-led academic support. I’ve also supported GCSE students in Maths and Statistics, using structured lesson plans and ongoing progress tracking. Many of the students I’ve worked with have gone on to receive offers from top UK universities.
My Proudest Achievements
On a personal level, I’m proud to have trained in piloting and to have created opportunities to travel widely, experiencing different cultures along the way. Academically, I’m proud to have received four university offers, won awards from national competitions, led my Medical & Dental Society as President, and supported students in securing interviews and offers.
