About Me
I studied Natural Sciences at St. John’s College, Cambridge, staying on for an integrated masters and coming away with a high First in both my BA and MSci.
Over the past year, I’ve tutored four students through their GCSEs and A Levels in Chemistry, Physics, and Maths, and before that worked with younger students on Biology and Chemistry. I’ve also run mock Oxbridge interviews for Natural Sciences applicants and reviewed a good number of personal statements for both students and friends. My teaching style draws heavily on Cambridge’s tutorial system, and students consistently tell me they come away with a genuinely deeper understanding, not just better exam technique. Alongside general tuition, I offer focused preparation for Oxford and Cambridge science admissions, both the interviews and entrance exams (NSAA and others).
My teaching style
My teaching style is shaped by the Cambridge tutorial system, where small group or one-on-one sessions push you to think out loud, question your own reasoning, and work through ideas rather than just absorb them. I bring that same approach to my tutoring — asking questions rather than simply giving answers, and encouraging students to reason their way to understanding rather than memorise their way to it. It’s a slower, more concept based style, but it builds a kind of confidence and depth of understanding that pays off far beyond a single exam or interview.
My past experience
Over the past year, I’ve tutored 4 students through their GCSEs and A Levels in Chemistry, Physics, and Maths. Before that, I worked with a number of younger students on Biology and Chemistry. I’ve also conducted mock Oxbridge interviews for Natural Sciences applicants and reviewed personal statements for several students and friends.
My Proudest Achievements
One of my proudest moments was working with a student who came to me extremely anxious about her Physics exam, convinced she was going to fail. We spent our sessions not just going over content, but breaking down her nerves, tackling problems slowly, building her confidence in her own reasoning, and showing her she understood far more than she gave herself credit for. When her results came in, she’d done brilliantly. Seeing that shift, from dread to genuine belief in her own ability, is exactly why I love tutoring.
