18About Me
I’m Emma, and I’ve just completed my first undergraduate year studying Chemistry at the University of Oxford. I am offering tuition for GCSE and A-Level students in Chemistry, Biology, Maths and German, as well as Combined Science GCSE.
As a tutor, my main goal is to help students build confidence and feel more in control of their learning. I believe many students are more capable than they realise, but can lose confidence when faced with difficult and unfamiliar concepts. I have a strong passion for science, maths and languages and teach others with enthusiasm and patience.
Having studied these subjects myself, I recognise the importance of developing a secure understanding of content before approaching exam-style questions.
I want to support students in making meaningful academic progress, so that they can find enjoyment in their studies.
My teaching style
I strongly believe that science and mathematics should be accessible to everyone. I place a strong emphasis on breaking down difficult concepts into simple, clear explanations that are more approachable to students. This can involve the use of diagrams, flow-charts and bullet points, depending on each students’ individual learning preferences. I use a combination of active recall and exam-style questions to improve both the students’ understanding of the content and exam technique. I am dedicated to creating a welcoming environment where students can ask questions, build confidence and ultimately achieve significant academic progress.
My Proudest Achievements
I have achieved full marks in my EPQ, and OCR A-Level Chemistry Paper 3.
I have achieved A* A* A* A* A at A-Levels.
I have received 5/5 offers from all the Universities I applied to in Year 13, including the University of Oxford.
