12About Me
Hello! I’m Dhanya, a second year medical student at the University of Bristol. I have experience in teaching A-Level Biology and Chemistry, and achieved A* in both. Having recently gone through the medical applications process myself, I am very familiar with the UCAT, personal statements, and interviews, and received offers from all four of the universities I applied to – Bristol, Nottingham, Southampton and King’s College London.
In the UCAT, I scored 3210 Band 1, placing me in a strong position to share tips and tricks for how to achieve the best possible outcome in this. I also tutor GCSE Mathematics and Spanish, having done both for A-Levels and achieving A in each.
In my spare time, I participate in many creative activities, such as drawing, music, and painting. This help me maintain a work-life balance alongside my degree.
My teaching style
My teaching style involves placing the student in charge of their learning process, by adapting my teaching according to their preferred learning style. I aim to create a relaxed and friendly atmosphere during the sessions to allow any doubts and concerns to be shared, while also maintaining organisation and covering all the content in the given time. As well as this, regular reflection on progress and learning at the end of each session will allow for the best possible outcomes.
My past experience
I have tutored A-Level Biology and Chemistry for a year, allowing students to cover specific topics and revise for upcoming smaller exams as well as the A-level ones.
My Proudest Achievements
My proudest achievements involve things I have done both academically and outside of medicine. I did four A-Levels (A*A*AA), as well as playing two instruments at Grade 8 standard and still having time to relax and wind down. I want to make sure my students feel like they can thrive in all aspects of their lives, instead of sacrificing certain things for their studies.
