31About Me
I am Shreya, an MEng Design Engineering graduate with a first class honours degree from Imperial College London and an incoming PHD researcher at UCL.
I am deeply enthusiastic about creating human centered and environmental products and services that elegantly bridges the fundamentals of engineering, intricacies of design, and convenience of technology to maximise their overall potential.
Through my interdisciplinary background, I offer a versatile and inventive perspective to solve design and engineering challenges whilst excelling in collaborative environments. My passion towards communicating to users in order to understand their needs and challenges they face on a day to day life is the principle behind my design thinking, ideation and prototyping process.
Being an intuitive, pragmatic and motivated individual, I am willing to push my limits and expand my skills to solve design engineering challenges that come my way. As an active team member, I always strive for combined success of the team including myself. Always on the go and ready to take up challenges with a never say die attitude helps me to be the person who I am.
My teaching style
I am Shreya, a First Class MEng Design Engineering graduate from Imperial College London. I enjoy helping people understand things that they initially find difficult, and I try to make lessons feel relaxed rather than intimidating.
I usually start by understanding what the student already knows and where they are getting stuck. From there, I explain things in a way that makes sense to them, rather than expecting them to just memorise a method. I also like to bring activities and making into my teaching where possible. Through Design Engineering, I found that concepts can often become much easier to understand when you can actually see, build or test something rather than only learning from a textbook.
My engineering degree has taught me how to break down unfamiliar problems and work through them logically. I want students to understand why something works, while also building the confidence to tackle problems themselves.
My Proudest Achievements
One of the projects I am most proud of is Mamilla, a breastfeeding support tool that started as a university project during my degree and has since grown into a startup that I continue to work on with my team. Building Mamilla has involved developing ideas, testing them with users and turning an initial university project into something that can have a real impact. I was also awarded the QS ImpACT Women’s Scholarship, recognising my commitment to creating positive social and environmental impact and supporting my upcoming PHD study at UCL.
