About Me

Hello! My name is Kieran, and I’m a music graduate from King’s College London, where I specialised in Flute Performance alongside the Royal Academy of Music. I’m a passionate and experienced flute teacher and essay writer and I also offer tutoring in Music, English Literature, English Language and Maths at GCSE and English Literature and Music at A Level.

Alongside my musical studies, I have developed a strong passion for essay writing, research and the arts, with particular expertise in classical music. I now freelance as a stage director for theatre and opera, which has given me a wealth of experience working creatively with people, communicating ideas, and helping others build confidence.

I love meeting new people and helping students come out of their comfort zones. I’m friendly, engaging and patient, and I adapt every lesson to suit individual students as everyone learns differently, and you deserve a tutor who encourages you to shine in whatever area you want to develop.

Whether you’re preparing for an exam, struggling with a particular topic, looking to improve your grades, or simply want to become more confident in your abilities, I will find a way to work with you to find an approach that works. I believe that learning should be fun, and I try to make every lesson as enjoyable and engaging as possible.

I have previously tutored at Felsted International Summer School, and I’m now excited to bring that experience into my own tutoring practice. I care about my students and want to help them achieve their goals while developing confidence that extends beyond the classroom.

I look forward to meeting you!

My teaching style

My teaching style is student-focused. At first, I start by listening and understanding where a student is currently at, what they find challenging, what they enjoy, and what they want to achieve. From there, I can tailor lessons and learning plans to suit each individual student rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach.

For Flute, this might mean preparing for an exam or audition, building confidence for a performance, or simply learning to play for enjoyment. Alongside working towards specific goals, I aim to develop broader musicianship, including technique, musical expression, listening skills and confidence.

For English and Maths, I like to identify specific areas where a student would benefit from additional support and then work through these together at a pace that feels comfortable. This could involve strengthening foundational knowledge, tackling difficult topics, practising exam technique, or developing confidence in areas the student finds challenging.

Most importantly, I want students to feel that lessons are something we work on together. I always make sure they have a say in what we do in every lesson and I encourage discussion throughout. I adapt my approach as a student’s needs and goals develop.
