Hello, I’m Esther. I am currently studying medicine at Keele University – and loving it, especially immunology.
I never even considered medicine as a child as I thought I ‘was not clever enough’. Turns out, no such thing exists! As long as you believe in yourself and work hard, anything is possible. I performed very strongly in my interviews and believe it was them that secured my place at medical school.
Academics are important, but being a kind, confident doctor is just as (if not more) crucial to help your patients. That is why excelling in interviews is hugely important, it is your time to shine! I believed in myself and went into my interviews calm. Now, I want to pass on that skill to future applicants.
I pride myself on giving lots of positive feedback and building self confidence – then the rest can improve.
My teaching style
Practice interviews then provide personalised feedback after. However, I can alter to the student if needed. Lots of praise! I aim to build the students confidence in themselves and then try to improve the rest. But the most important thing is that the student has tried their best, and they are proud of themselves.
My past experience
I have performed practice interviews with current med applicants and provided feedback. I also have tutored Biology, Chemistry and Maths so I am used to adapting to the students need. Additionally, I coached at my local cheerleading club for 5 years. In conclusion, I have excellent communication skills and have worked with a very wide variety of people.
My Proudest Achievements
Getting into medical school! It was such a surprise for me. Growing up I did not achieve high scores, I HATED maths and science as I did not understand it. Medicine did not seem a possibility. But I am proud for myself, I put the effort in and asked for help. It taught me that the work is always worth it.
