About Me
Hello,
Welcome to my classes! I am a professional, experienced, approachable tutor with the right qualifications to help you achieve your goals in A Level Accounting, Economics, or Business Studies. As a graduate of a world top 100 university myself, I understand the importance of getting the test score that you need. I hold postgraduate level qualifications in accountancy, although I have now retired as a chartered accountant, in order to focus on full-time tutoring. I passed the A.C.A. Professional exams in 1996 (I.C.A.E.W). My first degree in International History and Politics from the University of Leeds had an elective Economics subsidiary, which I enjoyed. Additionally, I achieved grade ‘A’ at A Level Economics. I hold a second-degree-level qualification in English, so I can help you to ensure your answers are well-written. I hold an Ofqual-regulated teaching qualification and an enhanced DBS certificate. Make today the first day of the rest of your life! Book a lesson!
My teaching style
My lessons are tailored to the needs of individual students. I have great study materials, including past examination papers. During a typical lessons I will share the objective of the lessons, present the information or concept, and then work together with the student in applying the concepts that they have studied. For example we might try a test question, that we work on together. The next step is for the student to work independently in class, perhaps by tackling another question. My role is to review and provide feedback. If necessary, I explain the concept again. As an optional extra, I offer to set and mark a homework task per booked lesson, for no additional charge. This is not required, however. Some students just prefer to book more lessons!
My past experience
I am an experienced tutor with 5-star reviews, marking experience, and real-life practical experience in accounting. My students find that their motivation levels increase with my encouragement.
My Proudest Achievements
I ran the Great North Run half-marathon for charity in 2023 and 2022. It was not easy (P.E. was not my strongest subject at school!). As part of training for that, I did a park run for the first time, and prior to that, lots of rambling. My experience of gradually improving my running skills, step by step, helps me to be a better tutor.
