About Me
Hi! I’m Chris, a Mechanical Engineering Master’s student with over 1000 hours of tutoring experience and 50+ students taught across GCSE and A-Level subjects. My tutoring is built around one simple idea: every student learns differently, so every lesson should be designed specifically for them.
From the very first session, I focus on understanding the student — how they learn best, what they currently struggle with, and what they want to achieve. This allows me to tailor every lesson to their needs rather than using a generic teaching approach. Whether a student needs help building strong foundations, improving exam technique, or boosting their confidence in a subject, I adapt my explanations, pace, and resources to suit them.
Many of my students have improved 1–2 grades above their target predictions, largely because lessons focus on their specific weaknesses and goals. I also create custom revision resources, structured notes, and targeted exam practice so students always have materials that match exactly what they need to work on.
I pride myself on creating a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and know that the lesson is truly centred around them. My aim is not just to help students perform better in exams, but to make them feel confident in their abilities and capable of tackling challenging problems independently.
If you’re looking for a tutor who will take the time to understand you and build lessons around your individual needs, I’d be happy to help.
My teaching style
My teaching style is highly personalised and centred around each student’s individual needs. I take time to understand how each student learns best, what they find challenging, and what their goals are so that every lesson is tailored specifically to them. Rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach, I adapt my explanations, pace, and teaching methods to make sure the student feels comfortable, supported, and fully understood.
I focus on building confidence by giving students the attention they deserve and creating a learning environment where they feel valued and encouraged to ask questions. Lessons are designed around their strengths and weaknesses, with targeted practice and resources created specifically to help them improve. My goal is to make every student feel that the lessons are built around them, helping them progress faster while also enjoying the learning process.
My past experience
Yes, I have extensive tutoring experience, having delivered over 1000 hours of lessons to more than 50 students across GCSE and A-Level subjects. Through this experience I’ve worked with a wide range of students with different abilities, learning styles, and academic goals, which has helped me develop a very adaptable and personalised teaching approach.
Many of the students I’ve supported have improved 1–2 grades above their predicted targets, particularly by strengthening their understanding of core concepts and improving their exam technique. I design tailored lesson plans and custom revision resources for each student so that lessons directly focus on the areas they need the most support with.
I also have experience working with SEN students, where patience, clear communication, and adapting teaching methods are especially important. In addition to tutoring, I have taken on a Junior Tutor Manager role, where I supported and mentored other tutors and helped maintain high teaching standards.
Overall, my experience has allowed me to refine a teaching style that prioritises the individual student, ensuring every lesson is structured around helping them progress, build confidence, and achieve their academic goals.
My Proudest Achievements
One of my proudest achievements is seeing students significantly exceed their predicted grades after building their confidence and understanding through personalised support. Many of my students have improved by 1–2 grades, and knowing that the tailored lessons, resources, and encouragement I provided helped them reach their potential is incredibly rewarding.
I’m also proud of delivering over 1000 hours of tutoring to more than 50 students, while maintaining a strong focus on adapting lessons to each individual learner. Supporting students with different learning styles, including SEN students, and helping them feel more confident in their abilities is something I value greatly.
Taking on a Junior Tutor Manager role, where I helped guide and support other tutors, is another achievement I’m proud of, as it reflects both my experience and commitment to high-quality teaching.
