About Me

Hi there. I’m a final year medical student at the University of Edinburgh. I’m really passionate about teaching and hope you’ll consider me as your tutor. I have over 250h of UCAT tutoring experience with MedicMind. I have previously successfully coached students through the medical school applications process, as well as having tutored Biology and public speaking/debating at both a high school and undergraduate level. I love helping others to develop their skills, as well as sharing my own knowledge and tips.

I applied to medical school in 2017 and received offers from Edinburgh, St Andrews, Glasgow and Aberdeen medical schools. I achieved a score of 3130 in my UKCAT (860 in QR; 800 in AR; 740 in VR; 730 in DM), placing me well into the top decile of my cohort. I have experience of tutoring for the UCAT and helping students prepare for interviews.

Academically, I have a broad range of interests having published research papers in both medical and humanities journals. In my third year, I undertook an intercalated degree in ‘Bioethics, Law and Social Science’, achieving First class honours and the prize for top results on the course. I’m now continuing on into my final year of Medicine after achieving a distinction for my performance in 5th year at Medical School.

Beyond academics, I also take part in competitive debate. I have previously represented Edinburgh at both the European University Debating Championships, where I reached the grand final, and the World University Debating Championships, where I reached the Octo-final. I coach the national Scottish schools debate team who, at this year’s World Schools Debating Championship, went on to finish 3rd in the world. In my spare time, I love to cook and enjoy good food, read lots of books, and enjoy the (very limited) sun up here in Scotland. I hope that you’ll consider me as your tutor!

My teaching style

My lessons will cater to your individual needs as much as possible, which we can establish both prior to and during the first session. I’m a great proponent of active learning, so my lessons have a focus on practice questions. Strong exam technique is essential for the highly time-pressured UCAT, so the lessons also focus on establishing a solid foundation for approaching questions.

My past experience

I have over 250h of teaching experience with MedicMind. I have previously successfully coached students through the medical school applications process for my old school, tutored high school Biology, and taught Speech and Debate at both a high school and undergraduate level.

My Proudest Achievements

I’m very proud of my UKCAT score and obtaining offers from four top medical schools. I’m proud of my academic achievements, such as being awarded Dux of my school, a prize for being top student on my intercalated degree, and achieving a distinction in my fifth year of medical school. I’m also very proud of my research, having been the lead author on both my published papers.
