About Me
Hello, my name is Karanpreet Singh, and I’m a first-year Computer Science student at Brunel University London, studying Mathematics, Artificial Intelligence and Cyber Security. I have a strong passion for STEM and for helping others understand it.
As a STEM Tutor at Aveea, I taught Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics through interactive, hands-on lessons. I focused on explaining complex ideas in clear, age-appropriate language and adapting my pace and teaching style to each student’s needs. I listen first to understand where a student is struggling, and then build their confidence step by step.
Alongside my studies, I’ve developed my own technical skills in Python, Java and C++, and completed projects in reinforcement learning and quantum machine learning. This helps me bring real, current examples into my teaching and show students why these subjects matter. I’m also fluent in English, Punjabi and Hindi, which helps me communicate with students and families from diverse backgrounds.
I’m patient, organised and enthusiastic, and I’d love to bring that energy to your team and help students enjoy learning.
My teaching style
My teaching style is built on connection. I believe students learn best when they feel comfortable, understood and safe to ask questions. I take the time to get to know each student, including how they learn, what they enjoy and what makes them nervous, and I engage with them fully in every session. This builds trust, so they feel able to talk to me openly, admit when they’re stuck and share their ideas without fear of being wrong. Once that trust is in place, I use practical, hands-on activities to turn confusion into understanding and build lasting confidence.
My past experience
As a STEM Tutor at Aveea, I taught students across Key Stage 1, 2 and 3, from early primary through to lower secondary. I adapted my explanations, pace and activities to each age group, using interactive, hands-on lessons to make Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics enjoyable and accessible. My approach is built on connection: I get to know each student, listen carefully and engage fully, so they feel comfortable talking to me openly. From that trust, I help them build confidence step by step.
My Proudest Achievements
My proudest achievement is winning a hackathon, where I built a quantum reinforcement learning solution to the Max-Cut problem. Max-Cut is a classic optimisation problem where you split a network into two groups so that as many connections as possible run between them. It’s very hard to solve as graphs get bigger, so I combined quantum computing with reinforcement learning to help an agent learn better solutions. I had to learn quickly, work under time pressure and explain a very technical idea clearly to the judges. That experience showed me that I can break down complex concepts into simple steps, which is exactly what I do as a tutor when I help students understand difficult topics.
