I’m Brittany, a Master’s qualified Behavioural Neuroscience graduate and Graduate Entry Medicine student at the University of Chester. My research focused on human behaviour, social interaction, and decision making, which now shapes how I understand students’ reasoning, confidence, and learning needs. I independently navigated the UK medical school admissions process, securing three interview invitations from four applications and ultimately receiving a GEM offer. I now support students with UCAT preparation, university selection, personal statements, interviews, and wider application strategy. As an experienced medical admissions tutor, former Graduate Teaching Assistant, and someone with over 1000 hours of healthcare experience, my approach is practical, structured, and personalised. As a neurodivergent applicant who sat the UCAT with access arrangements, I understand that every student may need a different route to success. I help students recognise patterns in their mistakes, communicate their experiences confidently, and approach the admissions process with a clear strategy.
My teaching style
My teaching style is structured, personalised, and practical, with every lesson adapted to the individual student. For UCAT preparation, I focus on building reliable methods, improving timing, recognising patterns in mistakes, and helping students understand how to approach similar questions independently. For interviews, I help students turn their experiences into thoughtful, well structured answers that sound natural rather than rehearsed, drawing on my background in patient communication, OSCE style scenarios, psychology, and behavioural science. I also support personal statements, university selection, and wider application strategy, helping students identify their strongest experiences, reflect meaningfully, and make informed choices based on their academic profile and goals.
My past experience
Teaching has been a central part of my academic and professional experience. As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, I supported university students with tutorials, research methods, academic skills, and independent projects, while adapting my explanations to different levels of confidence and ability. I have also worked in secondary and sixth form education, including with students with SEN and additional learning needs. My Master’s degree in Behavioural Neuroscience involved designing and leading an independent research project, strengthening the critical thinking and research skills I now bring to admissions tutoring. Alongside my healthcare experience in patient communication, structured interviews, ethics, and OSCE style scenarios, this allows me to support students with informed and reflective interview preparation. I now specialise in medical school admissions, including UCAT, UCAT SEN, interviews, personal statements, university selection, and full application support.
My Proudest Achievements
My proudest achievement is everything I have overcome and accomplished throughout my academic journey. I independently navigated the medical school admissions process alongside my own SEN needs, prepared for the UCAT with access arrangements, researched universities, developed my application strategy, and prepared for multiple interviews, ultimately securing three interview invitations from four applications and receiving a Graduate Entry Medicine offer. Coming through the other side of these experiences has taught me a great deal about resilience, dedication, adaptability, and the importance of finding strategies that work for the individual. I now want to apply everything I have learned to help other students navigate their own challenges, recognise their strengths, and approach the admissions process with greater confidence, clarity, and support.
