515About Me
Hi I’m Archie, I have graduated from my Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE) at St Catherine’s college, University of Oxford with 1st class results. I received offers to study PPE at Oxford, Durham, Edinburgh, Warwick, and Lancaster following A levels of maths, economics, and politics. With around 200 hours of tutoring experience, I have helped many students to create their best possible application, from personal statement writing to admissions test preparation and practice interviews, from which I have accumulated a large bank of questions. My time in the Oxford tutorial system has provided me an understanding of what the tutors interviewing applicants expect and I aim to pass these insights onto my students.
When not studying, I’m typically reading around my subjects, playing chess online, or playing the piano.
My teaching style
I offer a tailored learning experience. Whether applying to a top university, or seeking to improve your A level grades, I will bring my knowledge and experience to design lessons that bring the best out of you.
Each student is different, and in order to develop the critical and creative thinking skills associated with performing well in an Oxford interview or TSA admissions test, this must be recognised. I will challenge students with mock interviews and practice questions in order to build the skills and confidence required to tackle the admissions process.
I can offer insights into how personal statements should be formulated, providing advice and assistance in readings that will help students reinforce their personal statement and interview arguments with key source material.
Whether seeking improvement for an upcoming exam, or working to build long terms skills and ways of thinking, I will offer guided revision and practical feedback so that you can get your best possible results.
My past experience
I have over 100 hours of tutoring experience. I have covered every area of the application process guiding students from the very beginning all the way through to interviews. I assist students from guiding their reading for personal statement preparation through to TSA preparation, and mock interviews.
I also have experience with Economics A level tutoring and have guided students to achieve their best possible results in AS and A level exams.
