About Me
I’m a product design tutor with a background in industrial design and a genuine interest in helping students become more confident, creative, and independent in their work. I studied Product Design at Nottingham Trent University, where I developed skills across research, sketching, CAD, model making, rendering, presentation, and design communication. I also completed a 12-month internship at PriestmanGoode, an international design consultancy, which gave me valuable experience of how design is used in a professional setting.
I support GCSE, A-level and undergraduate students with Product Design, helping them understand both the creative and technical sides of the subject. I know that design projects can sometimes feel overwhelming, especially when students are trying to balance coursework, deadlines, practical work, written analysis, and exam preparation. My aim is to make the process feel clearer and more manageable.
I can help with idea generation, design research, sketching, CAD, development work, modelling, presentation layout, annotation, evaluation, and portfolio-style coursework. I enjoy helping students take an initial idea and develop it into something more considered, realistic, and well communicated.
Above all, I want students to feel more confident in their own design decisions. Product Design is not just about making things look good; it is about understanding people, solving problems, testing ideas, and explaining your thinking clearly. I aim to give students practical guidance, constructive feedback, and a supportive space to improve their work.
My teaching style
My teaching style is friendly, patient, and practical. I like to break design tasks down into clear, manageable steps so students understand what they need to do and why it matters. Rather than simply telling students the answer, I help them think through their decisions, develop stronger ideas, and build confidence in explaining their work. I adapt each session to the student’s needs, whether they need help with coursework structure, sketching, CAD, written analysis, exam preparation, or developing a final concept.
My past experience
I have around a year’s experience tutoring Product Design alongside my undergraduate studies, supporting students with coursework, project development, design thinking, sketching, presentation, and practical decision-making. This gave me a good understanding of how to explain design processes in a clear, approachable way and how to adapt my support depending on each student’s confidence level and needs.
I also had the opportunity to work with undergraduate students during my time at PriestmanGoode, where I was involved in giving feedback, discussing design approaches, and helping students understand how their ideas could be developed and communicated more professionally. This experience helped me bridge the gap between education and industry, showing students how the skills they build in school or university can be applied in a real design environment.
My Proudest Achievements
One of my proudest achievements was winning Best Project at the Nottingham Trent University Product Design degree show and later exhibiting the project at New Designers in London. I am also proud of completing a 12-month internship at PriestmanGoode, where I gained valuable experience working in a professional design consultancy.
