Hi there! I’m Paul, and I’m a double-major in Political Science and Economics at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Having grown up in Hong Kong, whilst being french, to now moving to the U.S. for college, I love new adventures and experiencing new things.
With a strong academic foundation — 11 A*s in IGCSEs and 42/45 predicted in the IB — I know what it takes to excel in challenging curriculums. My experiences have taught me the importance of building a solid understanding of concepts before tackling advanced problems. Whether it’s mastering exam techniques or bridging knowledge gaps, I focus on building confidence and clarity to help students reach their highest potential.
Beyond academics, I enjoy running, watching formula one, and reading up on world affairs/politics/news.
My teaching style
I start each session with a quick check-in to help you feel comfortable and ready to learn. From there, our focus—whether on mastering new content or tackling exam-style questions—depends entirely on what works best for you.
My teaching style is highly interactive. I ask plenty of questions to assess understanding, encourage reflection, and keep you actively engaged. I also pay close attention to any weaker areas so we can strengthen them together, ensuring steady progress.
Since everyone learns differently, I adapt my approach to fit your needs. If you have specific preferences or learning methods that work best for you, just let me know! My goal is to create a supportive and productive learning environment where you feel confident and motivated.
My past experience
I started tutoring back in Year 11 and have been doing it for over four years now. Along the way, I’ve had the chance to work with more than 20 students of different ages. I began by teaching math and French to younger kids (ages 3-9), but over time, I’ve taken on more advanced topics, helping students prepare for exams and tackle tricky concepts.
My Proudest Achievements
I’m proud to be studying Political Science and Economics at UCLA. The course has been a rewarding experience so far, and I’m looking forward to the opportunities and challenges the next few years will bring!
