Hello there, I’m Omar. I am a final-year History student at Corpus Christi College, University of Cambridge. I took Mathematics, History, English Literature and Philosophy at A-Level / Pre-U, and achieved four A* or equivalent. I ranked within the top 10% of my cohort at Cambridge across both my first and second years. I have been awarded travel grants by my college to pursue my historical studies further afield, most recently in Milan, Italy. I have tutored for many years in a variety of formats, including on a virtual platform during the pandemic, but also in-person in the classroom. I have also provided Oxbridge-specific coaching for students in the past, including Personal Statement preparation, Interview coaching and HAT/HAA work. Beyond my academic commitments, I am a singer in my college’s chapel choir.
My teaching style
My leading principle is to meet any student at their own level, and push them at an achievable level in order for them to succeed in their desired academic goals. At Cambridge, I am taught one-to-one on a weekly basis by professors and academic supervisors, which provides me with a strong insight into the skills and attributes they like to see in prospective students.
My past experience
I have tutored students in Oxbridge admissions for Blue Education, assisting students to prepare for the Personal Statement, Interview and Admissions Test in English. During the summer of 2023, I helped high-school students prepare for their SATs and GED exams, as well as college admissions tests, while working with the nonprofit Project Rousseau. I also previously tutored on the online platform EasyA in Mathematics and English, and have taught at a summer camp in Frankfurt, Germany, over the summer in 2024.
My Proudest Achievements
Working during my gap year to self-fund an internship assisting asylum seekers in New York City over the summer.
