About Me

My name is Iris and I am a PhD Student in Mathematics at Imperial College London. I have recently graduated Imperial College London with a First. As most of my life revolved around Maths, I can say that this subject defines my personality and I would love to share my passion with others as well. I am originally from Romania, where I managed to score full marks in the Romanian Baccalaureate exams.

My interest in the intriguing World of Numbers pushed me towards Olympiads where I managed to qualify eight consecutive years for the National Phase, in five of them winning a Bronze Medal. I have always had a desire for a deeper understanding of Mathematics this resulting in my participation in various mathematical camps. There I had the opportunity to prepare some advanced lectures for some brilliant students from all over my country. Apart from that, I have voluntarily tutored children from orphanages managing to visibly improve their grades and to engage their curiosity regarding Maths.

My teaching style

The goal of my teaching is not only improving grades but also boosting confidence and discovering the beauty of Maths. The structure of my lessons will be flexible depending on my tutee’s needs and best learning style. I will adapt my sessions based on the weaknesses and I will come up with challenging and interesting exercises for every level that could arise the interest towards this subject. My sessions will include a lot of questions that could verify the tutee’s understanding of methods or tricks explained before.

My past experience

I have completed more than 1000 hours of tutoring over the past 6 years helping over 70 students for GCSE, A-Level, IB and university entrance Mathematics exams. 85% of students achieved A* or A grades, highlighting my ability to plan effectively, engage students, and motivate them to succeed.
