Avanthika
About Me
My name is Avanthika, and I am a friendly, patient and supportive tutor with a background in Social Work, education and working with children and young people. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from India and previously studied MA Social Work at the University of Essex in the UK.
My academic and professional background has given me valuable experience working with children, students and families. I have worked as a Social Worker at a child development centre, where I supported children with developmental needs and prepared observation and development reports. I have also worked as a student counsellor and mentor, providing guidance and support to students and communicating with parents. These experiences have helped me develop strong communication, patience, empathy and organisational skills.
I particularly enjoy helping students with Maths by breaking difficult topics into simple, manageable steps. I believe students learn best when they feel comfortable asking questions and are not afraid of making mistakes. I adapt my explanations according to each student’s level, learning style and individual needs.
My teaching approach is supportive, encouraging and practical. I use clear explanations, worked examples and practice questions to help students develop both understanding and confidence. I also encourage students to think independently rather than simply memorising answers.
Whether a student needs help with a particular Maths topic, wants to improve their grades, is preparing for an exam, or simply needs more confidence, I will do my best to provide patient and structured support. My goal is not only to help students get the right answer, but to help them understand how and why they reached it.
I am reliable, approachable and genuinely enjoy helping young people learn and progress. I look forward to working with students and helping them achieve their academic goals.
My teaching style
My teaching style is friendly, patient and personalised. I explain topics step by step, use simple examples and adapt lessons to each student’s level and learning style. I encourage students to ask questions, practise independently and learn from mistakes. My main goal is to make learning less stressful and help students build genuine understanding and confidence.
My past experience
I have experience supporting children and students through tutoring, mentoring and educational support. I have provided guidance to students and parents, supported children with their learning and development, and helped students understand topics through clear explanations and practical examples. I have also worked with children with developmental delays and have experience adapting my communication and support to individual needs.
