About Me
Hi I’m Leah from Chester and I’m in my 4th year studying Medicine at Imperial College London (intercalating in Business Management for my BSc). The medicine application process can be super daunting and I’d love to help make it easier for you! My scores are great but I also have the skills and characteristics to teach you and share that knowledge effectively. I’ve loved my time at medical school so far, and would be honoured to help you get here too! I had some amazing teachers at GCSE and A-Level and having tutored and received tutoring before, I know exactly what makes an effective lesson. I’m friendly, chatty and supportive. I go above and beyond and will deliver sessions that are engaging and useful. Whether it’s mock interviews, tips and tricks to ace the UCAT, practicing essays, working on your EPQ or revising subject content – I can help you to take the process in your stride and get those results! The process can be really stressful and I want to help you stay calm and collected. I look forward to meeting you!
My teaching style
My approach is tailored to each individual student, we’ll spend time assessing where you’re at and together we can come up with goals and a plan to get there. I think the best way of getting results is practice so our sessions will be spent doing loads of practice questions. I take the time to plan and prepare so the lessons will always be thought out and well structured. I like students to guide their own learning, so I’m happy to adapt the sessions to suit your needs.
My past experience
I’ve been tutoring with Medic Mind for over 3 years and helped over 150 students ace the EPQ, UCAT, personal statements and interviews. Many of the students I have tutored have achieved places in top medical schools in the UK including Cambridge and Imperial. I’m a UCAT Officer for widening participation charity In2Medschool – I highly recommend checking out their free resources, some of which I created! Over the years I’ve tutored primary schools, 11+ and GCSEs and have a 100% pass rate.
My Proudest Achievements
Receiving my GCSE results was one of my proudest moments. It was a celebration and culmination of all of my hard work and also the support of my teachers and family. Getting the offer from Imperial was also incredibly exciting – it took a lot to get there: GCSEs, BMAT, personal statement, interviews and A-Levels! Finally receiving that offer made me so proud when I reflected on the hard work it took to get there. Competing in the National Bar Mock Trial was an incredible experience. Working as a team, all being so determined and then winning together was an unbelievable sense of pride, as it wasn’t just pride in myself but my whole team.
