Janeni
About Me
Hi, I’m Janeni, a dedicated and approachable tutor with a BSc (Hons) degree in Biological Sciences (Physiology and Pharmacology) from the University of Leicester. I achieved an A in Maths, and A*’s in Biology and Chemistry at GCSE, before studying English Literature, Biology and Chemistry at A-Level and graduating in 2025.
I have experience in supporting students preparing for the 11+ as well as KS3 to GCSE, helping them build confidence, strengthen their understanding and improving their exam performance. My lessons are tailored to each student’s needs, ensuring concepts are clearly explained and fully understood. I am patient, encouraging and committed to ensuring every student reaches their potential. I adapt my teaching style to suit different learning preferences, creating a supportive environment where students feel confident asking questions and making progress. I believe that every student can succeed with the right support, encouragement and explanation tailored to their needs.
My teaching style
I am a conscientious and adaptable tutor who tailors lessons to the strengths and weaknesses of each student. I use a range of multimedia tools, interactive exercises and clear, step by step explanations to make learning engaging and accessible. My focus is on breaking down complex concepts into simple terms while encouraging students to ask questions and build confidence. To target specfic areas for improvement, I make extensive use of past papers and exam-style questions, helping students build familiarity, refining their technique and gaining confidence under exam conditions. I aim to create a supportive, motivating environment where students feel challenged and empowered to achieve their full potential.
My past experience
I have over a year of tutoring experience supporting students preparing for the 11+ entrance exams. I have taught Biology and Chemistry at GCSE level, using structured lessons and past-paper practice; in one case, this approach helped a student improve by three grades within two months. During university, I also taught a cohort of 25 first-year students, delivering module content and guiding them through exam-style questions to reinforce understanding. In addition, through my role at Smartsoft (UK) LTD, I contributed to the development of online courses and educational videos designed to support students preparing for the 11+ exams.
My Proudest Achievements
So proud to have gotten my degree alongside menoring and volunteering, I’ve really enjoyed the journey, found it rewarding and I’m so grateful for the opportunities ahead!
