About Me
Hi, I’m Myra – a Double First Class Geography graduate from Cambridge passionate about helping students succeed in competitive university admissions and beyond.
I graduated with a Double First in Geography from the University of Cambridge, consistently ranking in the top 10 across my cohort and placing 1st in my first year. My final-year dissertation earned an 83% and was awarded the William Vaughan Lewis Prize for outstanding academic work. It has also been nominated for the Royal Geographical Society Research Group Prize.
I specialise in Oxbridge interview preparation, personal statement coaching, and general academic tutoring. I secured 5/5 UK university offers from Cambridge, UCL, Edinburgh, KCL, and Durham, and have successfully guided juniors through Oxbridge admissions – including two who received Cambridge offers. I was also offered full scholarships from the National University of Singapore and Nanyang Technological University (Singapore).
My academic background also includes 8 distinctions in the rigorous Singapore-Cambridge GCE A-Level exams (Higher Level Geography, Geography, Economics, Math, Physics, English, Mandarin, Project Work). This included a Distinction in Higher Level Geography for a research paper mentored by a professor from the National University of Singapore.
My teaching style
My teaching style is customised, structured, and detail-oriented. I tailor each lesson to the student’s unique goals and learning pace, ensuring concepts are clearly understood before moving forward. I also encourage critical thinking and active engagement, so students don’t just learn, but learn how to learn effectively.
My past experience
I’ve had prior tutoring experience through an alumni-led mentorship initiative at my high school (Sixth Form). I served as a Subject Mentor for Geography, where I spearheaded and coordinated weekly revision sessions tailored to students’ specific needs in preparation for the A-Levels. I also developed over 100 pages of comprehensive notes and essay guides, which helped students improve their grades by at least two bands.
My Proudest Achievements
My proudest achievement would be completing my year-long dissertation project investigating the implications of live-in migrant domestic workers in Singapore.
