My teaching style

Before ongoing tutoring, I like to begin with a trial lesson so we can get to know each other properly. This gives us the chance to discuss your course, goals, deadlines, confidence level and learning style, and it also allows us to set clear expectations from the start. One size does not fit all, and you cannot ask a goldfish to climb a tree. I want to make sure the support is tailored to you and that we work well together, because students learn best when they feel comfortable, understood and able to ask questions.

My lessons are practical, interactive and focused on application. I do not believe in simply throwing information at students and expecting them to absorb it. Law is not just about memorising cases and legislation; it is about understanding the issue, applying the correct authority, explaining relevance and building a clear argument. I use real examples, problem questions, course materials and assessment criteria to help students think through the law for themselves and anticipate the next steps.

I have found online lessons to be highly effective because they allow us to work directly from your own materials, including lecture slides, seminar questions, mark schemes, feedback, draft essays and upcoming assessments. My approach is patient, nurturing but firm. I am approachable, honest and down to earth, but I will also challenge you where needed so that you leave each lesson clearer, more confident and knowing exactly how to improve.
