Hey there! I’m Sylvie Jouaneh, a med student currently tackling my fourth year at UCDublin. As someone who’s survived the battleground of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP), even managing to pull off a 43 out of 45 and being in my 4th year of medical school, I’ve got loads to share.
During my IBDP, I scored 7s in IB Biology HL, IB Chemistry HL, and IB Psychology HL. These subjects aren’t just exam numbers to me though – they’re areas I genuinely geek out over and have continued to delve into during my time at med school.
Now, I’ve decided to take my love for these subjects beyond the classroom. Whether it’s Biology, Chemistry, Psychology, Biochemistry, or just General Science that you’re grappling with, I’m here to help. I’ve got plenty of patience, a knack for breaking down tricky topics, and an approach that’s flexible to fit your unique learning style.
More than just boosting grades (which, of course, we’ll strive for), my goal is to make these subjects feel less like homework and more like exploring the most exciting, mind-blowing aspects of the world around us.

My teaching style
My teaching style is pretty adaptable and personal. I get to know how you learn best and then we hit the ground running from there. We’ll use visual aids, real-world examples, or whatever makes the concepts click for you. I’m big on understanding the “why” behind facts, not just memorizing. We’ll do lots of critical thinking, and who knows, you might just start to find the subject pretty interesting! I’m all about creating a supportive environment that encourages questions and celebrates progress, instilling confidence and a love for learning.
My Proudest Achievements
One of my biggest achievements has to be scoring a 43 out of 45 on my International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP), nailing top scores in IB Biology HL, IB Chemistry HL, and IB Psychology HL. That was a result of a lot of hard work and many late nights, but it was totally worth it.
Another accomplishment I’m really proud of is getting into UCDublin’s medical program and doing well as a fourth-year student. It’s challenging, sure, but I’m learning a ton and picking up some really useful skills along the way.
But you know what really makes me proud? Seeing my students succeed. There’s something incredibly rewarding about watching a student finally grasp a concept that they’ve been struggling with. Seeing them grow in knowledge and confidence? Now that’s what I call a true achievement. That’s the good stuff that keeps me excited about tutoring.
