Joel
About Me
Hi, my name is Joel, and I am an Economics graduate from the University of Connecticut with a Master’s degree in Finance from Bentley University. I currently work in financial markets, specializing in fixed income, credit products, ETFs, and investment analysis. Throughout my academic and professional career, I have developed a strong understanding of economics, finance, statistics, mathematics, and analytical problem-solving.
I am passionate about helping students gain confidence in subjects that often seem intimidating at first. Having gone through rigorous university coursework and professional licensing exams myself, I understand the challenges students face when learning new concepts. My goal is not only to help students improve their grades but also to ensure they truly understand the material and can apply it independently.
Whether you are studying GCSEs, A-Levels, undergraduate economics, finance, mathematics, or business-related subjects, I tailor lessons to your individual learning style and pace. I strive to create a supportive and engaging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes as part of the learning process. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing a student progress from feeling uncertain about a topic to mastering it with confidence.
My teaching style
My teaching style is highly interactive and student-focused. I begin by assessing a student’s current understanding and identifying any knowledge gaps. I then break complex concepts into simple, easy-to-understand steps using real-world examples and practical applications. I encourage students to actively participate, ask questions, and explain concepts back to me to reinforce understanding.
I believe learning is most effective when students understand the “why” behind a concept rather than simply memorizing information. Each lesson includes guided examples, practice questions, and exam-focused techniques to help students build confidence and achieve strong academic results.
My past experience
Yes. Throughout university and my professional career, I have regularly mentored and supported fellow students, interns, and junior colleagues in economics, finance, mathematics, and professional development. I have helped individuals understand complex quantitative concepts, prepare for exams, improve study techniques, and develop confidence in problem-solving.
In my professional roles within investment banking and financial markets, I have also trained new team members on financial products, market concepts, and analytical tools. These experiences have strengthened my ability to explain challenging topics clearly, adapt to different learning styles, and create structured learning plans that help students achieve their goals.
My Proudest Achievements
I graduated from the University of Connecticut with a degree in Economics and subsequently earned a Master’s in Finance from Bentley University. I have also passed multiple financial industry licensing examinations and built a successful career in global financial markets, working with institutional investors across fixed income, credit, and ETF products. These achievements reflect my dedication to academic excellence, continuous learning, and professional development
