About Me

I am an Experimental Psychology graduate from the University of Oxford with a passion for helping students become more confident and independent learners. My academic background spans psychology, biology and the social sciences, and my degree has given me an in-depth understanding of how people learn, alongside extensive experience in psychological research.

I have worked with students across a range of ages, from providing weekly one-to-one reading support to primary school pupils to mentoring A-level students and prospective university applicants. I have also spent three years supporting prospective Oxford applicants through access initiatives, discussing all aspects of the application process and delivering Psychology workshops and mock tutorials. In addition, I have provided one-to-one personal statement and mock interview support to prospective Oxford Psychology students, who went on to receive offers.

I particularly enjoy helping students move beyond simply memorising content and develop a genuine understanding of what they are learning. With Psychology especially, I like encouraging students to question research, make connections between different topics and explore areas that interest them beyond the syllabus. My aim is for students to leave sessions not only better prepared academically, but more confident in forming and defending their own ideas.

My teaching style

My teaching style is supportive, interactive and tailored to the individual student. I first identify their strengths and areas for improvement before adapting sessions accordingly. For academic subjects, I combine clear explanations with active questioning and exam board-specific practice to develop both understanding and exam technique. For Oxbridge Psychology applicants, I help students identify and explore areas of psychology that genuinely interest them, while introducing relevant super-curricular reading, research and ideas that can strengthen their academic profile. I also use discussion-based teaching and realistic mock interviews, drawing on my own Oxford tutorial experience and conversations with tutors to reflect the style and challenge of an Oxbridge interview. Across all sessions, I encourage students to think independently, critically engage with new ideas and confidently articulate their reasoning.

My past experience

I have experience teaching and mentoring students across a range of ages and academic stages. I have delivered weekly one-to-one reading sessions with Year 4 pupils, focusing on reading fluency, comprehension and confidence while adapting sessions to the individual pupil’s needs. I have also mentored A-level Sociology students, helping them identify academic challenges, strengthen their understanding and develop effective approaches to their studies.

For three consecutive years, I have supported prospective Oxford applicants through university access initiatives, delivering Psychology workshops and mock tutorials and speaking to students about all aspects of the Oxford application process. I have also delivered similar outreach through the Oxford Pakistan Society, with a particular focus on making Oxford feel more accessible and welcoming to students from underrepresented backgrounds.

Alongside this, I have provided one-to-one admissions mentoring to prospective Oxford Psychology applicants. This has included advising and providing detailed feedback on personal statements, discussing super-curricular interests and preparing students for interviews. I have designed realistic mock interviews informed by my own Oxford tutorial experience and discussions with tutors, followed by detailed feedback on students’ reasoning, communication and ability to engage with unfamiliar material. The students I have personally mentored through this process went on to receive Oxford offers.

My Proudest Achievements

One of my proudest achievements is becoming the first person in my family to attend the University of Oxford and graduating with a degree in Experimental Psychology. Coming from a state school with limited Oxbridge support, I had to navigate much of the application process independently, which made securing my place particularly meaningful. Since then, I have worked with several Oxford societies and widening-access initiatives to help make the process more accessible to students from similar and underrepresented backgrounds. It has been incredibly rewarding to see students I have supported go on to receive Oxford offers, and even more so to remain in contact with some of them after they arrived at Oxford and see them thrive there. For me, being able to turn my own experience into something that helps make the path easier for the students coming after me is an achievement I am particularly proud of.
