About Me
Hello! My name is Louisa and I’m in my 4th year of studying Medicine at Trinity Hall, The University of Cambridge.
I came from the state sector with very little application guidance from my school and college, other than the advice of older students, and received 4/4 offers (Cambridge, Exeter, Imperial College, Nottingham). It was the tips and guidance from the senior students that helped boost my confidence with applying, and I hope to share my own advice with you through the work of Medic Mind!
No question is a silly one, and in the world of university/Oxbridge applications there is often a lot to think about. Having a successful applicant guide you through the process and to answer your questions can only be a good thing, and I can’t wait to start working with you!
From scoring a run of straight 9s in my GCSEs and achieving 3A*s at A level (plus an A* in an EPQ), to scoring 2920 in the UCAT and 6.7/6.4/3A in the BMAT, you can trust that I’ll do my very best to help your own application and journey to med school.
Hope to hear from you soon!
Louisa 🙂
My teaching style
I am a big believer in tailoring teaching to the individual and I know that for many students (especially those at larger colleges/schools) there is often little time spent with each hopeful student on a 1-2-1 basis. With that in mind, I want to really get the most out of the tutoring sessions for YOU as an individual! Running through practice papers and looking at personal statements tailored specifically to YOUR dream universities means that we can utilize our sessions most effectively, and help you achieve your goals.
My past experience
I have previously helped peer mentor medical school/Oxbridge applicants at college, through running the college Healthcare Society from 2019-2020. Whilst in Year 12, I also returned to my former secondary school to help give advice to the Year 11s on how to best revise for their GCSEs and have worked with both larger groups and individuals to address particular GCSE topics.
My Proudest Achievements
For me, applying to study medicine was always largely a stepping stone on the way to qualifying as a doctor and thus being able to help as many people as possible through my career. Being accepted onto the Medic Mind team has got to be one of my proudest achievements as it enables me to start doing just that before I even think about graduating! I can’t wait to start helping younger students with their own academic journeys and fulfil my desire to help others at the same time. Though of course, being accepted to med school has got to take first place (with 4/4 offers being the cherry on top)!
