With over eight years of experience as a fully qualified teacher—including roles as Music Subject Lead and Maths—I am passionate about making learning engaging, accessible, and fun. My mission is to build confidence and instil a love for learning, especially in those who find maths or music difficult. Recognised with a Highly Commended Award for Pearson’s National Teacher of the Year in a secondary school (2022), I take pride in delivering tailored, supportive lessons that truly make a difference.
Prior to my teaching career, I travelled to the UK from Australia with a full University Scholarship to study music. I was fortunate to perform with some of the best Brass Bands in the world, traveling on tour with them all over the world. Having achieved the prestigious Harry Mortimer Performance Prize, and winner the British Cornet Solo Championships, I continued my journey by serving in the British Army as a professional trumpeter in the Coldstream Guards Scots Guards Band. It was here where I found the love of teaching. Following my Military career, I became a fully trained Music teacher and experienced 8+ years teaching in a variety of education settings such as Primary, Secondary and SEN/D schools. Throughout this time, I developed a passion for teaching Maths and working with learners who are SEN, Neurodiverse, anxious and lacking in confidence. Having struggled with Maths as a school student, I was driven to making Maths more fun, exciting, enjoyable and accessible – being the teacher I always needed! I am now delving into the world of tutoring where I can reach more learners that need me.
“My daughter absolutely adores the way Steph delivers the learning as it’s fun, and she finally understands Maths in a way that makes sense to her. I have never seen her so engaged & focused! What a positive experience.” – Parent Testimonial, January 2025.
Hi, my name is Ben Spink and I recently graduated from Durham University with a 2:1 in Music and Philosophy. I have a huge passion for music – in performance I play the trumpet to grade 8 standard, drums and tuned percussion and sing. I have a vast knowledge of the history of music through GCSE (A*), A level (A) and historical modules at university, and I researched in depth the role of the trumpet in British music, 1945-90 for my university dissertation in which I achieved a 2:1. I also have an interest in the psychological impact of music which was a key aspect to my EPQ at Marlborough College titled: ‘Can Music Enhance Sporting Performance’ (A). In Philosopy I achieved A* at GCSE, A at A-Level and excelled in Philosophy at University, particularly with modules surrounding ethics in business, the environment and with animals.

Hi there, I’m Owen a 4th year German and Russian student at Oxford University. I’ve been tutoring for two years now and enjoy the process of helping students reach their full academic potential.
I understand that learning languages in school is a difficult task and often needs tailored help for the individual rather than the class. I focus on building confidence in grammar and vocabulary, which when taught correctly are the key to understanding any language.
I endeavour to create a relaxed but focused atmosphere, in which it is encouraged for the student to make mistakes – this shows me that they are pushing themselves. In language, it is fundamental to make mistakes in order to learn – we all did when we learnt our first language. I then build upon this, tailoring sessions to the student in order to reinforce areas in which they are less confident. As sessions go by, the same words or grammar structures will continuously reappear. It is only by this constant exposure to language that we begin both to learn and memorise it.
Hi there, I’m Nathaniel, a 2nd year at Oxford studying Computer Science and Philosophy. I achieved 5 university offers for computer science, including Imperial, and I believe I have great knowledge on the application process for Oxbridge and Imperial. I really enjoy studying both mathematical and humanities subjects, and I am eager to tutor in both!
I really enjoy my degree, and would love to help inspire the same academic drive in other students – after all, the biggest motivator for studying is having a genuine interest for the subject, and I believe I can instill that.
I am also passionate about revision techniques, and enjoy advising others on new and useful techniques that they can incorporate into their revision – an under-looked aspect of exam preparation!
I am looking forward to working alongside students, and watching them gain confidence in their subject, and helping them achieve the grades and universities they deserve.
Hey I’m Sam, I’m studying Biomedical Science at Uni and particularly love studying gene editing. At the moment, I’m doing a presentation on CRISPR-Cas9, a revolutionary, Noble Prize winning, new technology which acts like ‘molecular scissors’ to cut DNA at specific points anywhere we like. How cool! I have recently have gone through the whole school schenangon- so absolutely know how difficult it can be to grasp new concepts and how irratitating those mark schemes can be, but that is where I come in! Exams can be very stressful and my aim is to make those pesky 6 markers as stress-free as possible: whether its exam strategies; mnemonics or little songs to help remember things, that is how can I help you best!
Whilst at school, I was quite a slow learner, it took me ages to genuinely comprehend the most basic concepts, however, my teachers and friends where there to help me and after some time, it sort of ‘clicked’ for me – my goal is to help you have that ‘light-bulb’ moment earlier – so that by the time exam season comes around, you’ll know the syllabus like the back of your hand!
