Hello! I’m Jess, a dedicated and experienced tutor with over three years of success helping students build confidence and achieve top grades in maths, science, and ICT/computer science. I’m currently studying mathematics and artificial intelligence at university, so I bring fresh knowledge, enthusiasm, and a real passion for problem-solving to every lesson.
I specialise in breaking down tricky topics into simple, understandable steps and tailoring each session to suit the individual learning style and goals of each student. I know that everyone learns differently, so I always aim to create a supportive environment where students feel confident to ask questions, make mistakes, and grow.
Whether you’re aiming for a grade boost, preparing for exams, or just want to feel more confident in your studies, I’m here to support you every step of the way. My lessons are engaging, structured, and designed to make learning enjoyable. I also focus on helping students develop independent study skills and a growth mindset that will benefit them far beyond the classroom.
I believe learning should be engaging, encouraging, and empowering. I’m excited to help you reach your full potential and enjoy the journey along the way!
I am a dedicated and approachable tutor with a strong passion for helping students unlock their full potential. My teaching style is supportive, structured, and tailored to individual needs, ensuring that each student builds confidence as well as subject knowledge. I believe that learning is not just about memorising facts but about developing critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and genuine understanding. With a focus on clear explanations, practical techniques, and exam strategies, I aim to make complex topics engaging and accessible. I understand the pressures students face, so I work to create a motivating environment that reduces stress and builds resilience. Whether preparing for exams or strengthening foundations, I am committed to helping every learner achieve success and enjoy the journey of education.
I have over 25 years of experience as a teacher and course leader at a further education college in Leeds, northern England. Throughout my career, I have taught a wide range of subjects across ICT, Programming, and Games Development courses – in particular computer languages and game engines. I also have extensive experience in web programming, database development, and general computer skills instruction.
In recent years, I have played a key role in the development and delivery of the T Level Digital Software Development course, teaching Python, software design, and software testing. I have also developed new units for the Access to higher education course that are now used by colleges nationally.
My responsibilities have included providing pastoral support to students, managing courses, ensuring quality assurance and verification standards, designing curricula, and interviewing prospective staff and students.
I take great pride in my professionalism, organisation, and approachable manner.
