Hospitality Tutors : 1-1 Hospitality Lessons

I completed an AS Level award in English Literature and A Levels in History, Psychology and Art and Design. I then achieved a 2:1 in BSc Applied Psychology at Liverpool John Moores University in 2014. In 2018, I successfully completed a PGCert from the University of Birmingham in Low Intensity Psychological Interventions, and in 2021 I qualified as a teacher of Art and Design.
I am a creative-thinking and motivated individual looking for a new challenge to broaden my horizons. I have previously worked as a psychological talking therapist, and I am also a qualified secondary teacher with extensive experience in schools; which has led me to my current role as an SEN tutor for adolescents who are refusing school attendance. My role is to provide them with the emotional support and encouragement needed to return to school, as well as helping them to learn and revise all curriculum material needed to pass their exams. I relish the opportunity to build positive relationships with others, as this is what motivates me, and I love to see meaningful changes which lead to bright futures; as a result of the work that myself and others have put in. I believe that in order to overcome any challenge, the first step is to identify the barriers to change. This requires the development of trusting relationships with students, as well as their parents and key staff members at their enrolled schools. Once these barriers are identified, we are able to collaboratively come up with a tailored plan to integrate students back into school.

I am a dedicated, adaptable, and student-focused teacher with the ability to teach IT and core school subjects effectively across different academic levels. My professional background in the hotel and hospitality industry has strengthened my communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills, enabling me to manage classrooms efficiently and respond to individual student needs with patience and clarity. I hold an MBA in Digital Marketing, which has equipped me with strong knowledge of digital tools, technology, data-driven thinking, and modern learning methodologies that enhance student engagement and understanding. My prior teaching experience in India has allowed me to work confidently with students from diverse academic, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds, helping me develop flexible teaching strategies and clear methods of explanation. These combined academic, professional, and teaching experiences enable me to be a supportive, reliable, and effective tutor within the UK education system, committed to helping students build confidence, achieve academic success, and develop independent learning skills.

Hello, my name is Jenna and I am new to tutoring, but am keen to help students reach their full potential!

I have a PhD in Mitochondrial Biology, and a BSc in Human Physiology. I just completed a Post Graduate certificate in Science Communication and Public Engagement, where I discovered a passion for making science accessible and understandable, and I’m hoping that my personal experiences in the from over 10 years working in labs will allow me to give a new point of view to students. I am a big believer at meeting people where they are and working out how best for each individual to learn.

I am from the Scottish Highlands and have a huge passion for natural science, and understanding the world around me. I enjoy talking to others about the natural world and the ways in which we can protect it.

I am also a keen rugby player, which has taught me that I am physically stronger than I thought I was, and that although I have worked most of my professional life as an individual, I absolutely love being part of a team. I also play a few instruments in my spare time.

While I loved my time at school and university, I understand all too well that this is not the case for many, whether that be a clash of personalities between student and teacher, or struggling to manage studies in a group of peers that do not share the same goals or interests. I think that this is where tutoring can be an incredible tool that can help students understand material in a way that works for them.
