Dentistry Tutors : 1-1 Dentistry Preparation

Hi! My name is Shazia and I am currently a first year dental student at the University of Leeds. Having achieved all A*s at GCSE’s and A*, A, A at A- level, I believe that these accomplishments reflect not only my dedication to my studies but also my deep understanding of the subjects I teach.

After completing the application process for one of the most competitive degrees, I can understand the overwhelming feeling of stress that a lot of you will feel and I am here to help turn that stress into useful drive and motivation to achieve a high set of grades.

Having very recently sat the 2024 MMI’s gives me first hand experience and puts me in a very fortunate position to be able to support others who want to succeed in their application to dental school, and you could be one of these people! I am very eager to share my experiences and help you achieve your full potential, to give interviewers what they’re looking for in a prospective dental student.

Whether you’re looking for support with science subjects, exam preparation, or guidance on effective study strategies, I’m here to help you achieve your goals. I appreciate that sometimes all you need are answers to general queries about applications/exams; I am here to answer them.

I am currently in BDS4 at UCLan, enrolled onto the Graduate Entry Dentistry course. My previous degree was in Biomedical Sciences alongside a placement year at Pfizer Pharmaceuticals, (awarded first class honours). I received offers from all 3 dentistry interviews I attended and have sound experience/ knowledge on how to best prepare for interviews. During my application process I came to realise how important it is to focus on specific areas of your application to increase your chances of success- I will help you do this during our tutoring sessions.
Outside of uni I am a keen long distance runner and love going to the gym (helps cope with stress!).
I once was a student with Dentist Mind and now am honoured to tutor students for Dentist Mind! My aim is to improve your confidence so that you can smash your interviews and perform to your best/full potential.

Currently, I am a second year dental student.
I recently completed my A levels in biology chemistry and maths. I then decided to go along the science route and pursue a career in dentistry.
I chose dentistry for a number of different reasons. Dentistry is a fulfilling career as it will allow me to actively improve the oral health of my patients which will be very rewarding. Dentistry is also a multi faceted career which combines many different skills such as problem solving, manual dexterity, good communication as well as time management which is quite appealing. It also provides a good work life balance and there is always the opportunity to further specialise into your chosen field of study.
My interest in science stems from secondary school. I enjoyed biology the most since I was intrigued to learn about the inner workings of the human body. I progressed and studied biology at a level to further develop my knowledge and currently, at university I study anatomy and histology which are both branches of biology.
I also really enjoyed maths throughout secondary school and college. My favourite part of maths was trigonometry at a level. I liked the challenge of solving difficult equations. Maths allowed me to develop transferable skills such as problem solving and thinking analytically and critically which will also be required of me as a dentist in the future.

Hi! I’m a final year Dental student at the University of Manchester 🙂 I’ve had lots of experience in tutoring students and prospective students one on one, reviewing personal statements (even if they’re for different courses or courses that are slightly related – e.g. Medicine!), and I’ve provided a lot of Q&A sessions for how I got into Uni and how I got 4/4 of my offers.

I received offers from King’s College London, Queen Mary College, Cardiff University, and the University of Manchester. I come from a socioeconomically deprived area, so I understand how it feels to be in competition for a University spot against others with better luck of the draw. I also have ADHD so I know how it feels to be a neurodivergent student and require slightly different styles and modes of teaching and concentration.

I love working with people and helping them – it’s part of why I want to go into Dentistry! I’d love for a chance to tutor even more people and make sure they’re receiving the best quality education and top personal tips for getting into Uni. Since I’ve worked as a Student Ambassador at UoM, I’ve also received “inside info” on how to ace your interview, and going through so many interviews myself as both the interviewee and the interviewer has given me a lot of experience so I can share all my knowledge with you!

I’m Simran and I’m a first year medical student at the University of Liverpool. I achieved 3/4 medical school offers at Bart’s, Liverpool and Leicester. I have access to Medic Minds UCAT bank and will be using this in lessons. I hope to help others find the confidence in themselves going forward and support them in achieving their respective goals. No goal is too ambitious! I hope to support you in pushing yourself outside of your comfort zone and adopting a growth mindset. Only when we push ourselves a little can we truly develop as a person and flourish both personally, socially and academically. It’s true that we will always be faced with failure in one form or another but by learning resilience, perseverance and working effectively rather than harder, you can achieve your goals.
