We believe financial income should not be a barrier, so up to 40% of our places will be given to students from lower socioeconomic backgrounds for absolutely free. We ensure convenient arrangements for our international students who reside overseas, as 70% of our student body falls into this category. We facilitate pick-up services from Heathrow airport to the accommodation, where a member of the Study Mind team will greet you. Additionally, if necessary, we will also arrange transportation back to your departure terminal.

Year 12 students (17-18 years old) would benefit from this programme before university (so they may include the work experience on their UCAS personal statement for university applications). 16-18 year olds and any student between 14-25 years will also benefit from this programme.

The Biology Summer School is non-refundable once booked. This is because we have to plan for all logistics including accommodation bookings, room bookings and more. If you are unsure whether you can attend but don't want to lose your spot, you can pay a non-refundable deposit of £500 to secure your place. The remaining payment will be due before the start of the course.

Safety is paramount to our Biology Summer School. Your child will always be accompanied by the Study Mind Safeguarding team for any travel needed.

You will be staying at accommodation in Central London in single rooms where breakfast and dinner will be provided. You will stay here from Sunday night (day before the course), with check-out on Friday, totalling 5 nights. There is 24/7 security and Study Mind staff who are first aid and safeguarding trained will be on site to assist. We can also arrange airport pick up for you.

Students coming to the UK for the Biology Summer School will need a Standard Visitor visa- https://www.gov.uk/standard-visitor

The Standard Visitor visa can only be applied for by parents/guardians and costs £100. They must apply through the UK Gov website only, You can name our course and Study Mind as the guardians of under 18s, and provide then the course information and booking confirmation when applying for the visa.

We recommend booking flights first before applying for the visa, as the visa needs proof of a return flight (the course end date might be enough, but might result in rejection).

Throughout the entire duration, your child will receive dedicated support from our Study Mind staff, who possess DBS enhanced checks and comprehensive training in first aid and safeguarding. We ensure that there will always be a female staff member available both on-site and within our accommodation premises. Students will be provided with a 24-hour emergency contact number, which they can reach out to at any time. If necessary, this number can be shared with parents and guardians as well.

The summer school programme extends over five days, starting at 9 am and typically concluding around 3:30 pm each day. However, you will receive a comprehensive timetable in advance, specifying exact timings for each activity. For those opting to stay at our accommodation, we have arranged exciting evening activities, such as movie nights, bowling, and a variety of other engaging options to enhance your experience outside of the classroom.

We recognise the difficulties presented by the current economic climate in regards to upfront payments. To offer flexibility, we provide interest-free installment plans spanning 3, 6, and 12 months. It's important to note, however, that a non-refundable deposit of £500 is necessary to reserve your spot.

Reserving our accommodation is not obligatory. You have the choice to either commute or arrange your own lodging if needed. Nevertheless, there are perks to booking our accommodation. By opting for this option, you'll receive support and assistance from our committed team and have the chance to reside alongside fellow students engaged in the work experience programme.

Absolutely! Rest assured, every student will be awarded a concrete certificate, serving as undeniable proof of their successful completion and active participation in the programme. This certificate carries considerable weight, particularly for their UCAS (Universities and Colleges Admissions Service) application, as numerous universities necessitate evidence of participation.
